A self-governing academic body with competence mainly in the field of scientific, research and other creative activities of the faculty. It approves the study programs to be carried out at the faculty, exercises authority in the habilitation procedure and in the procedure for the appointment of a professor to the extent established by law, and discusses the long-term plan of the faculty. The Research Board is chaired by the Dean. The composition of the Research Board is approved by the Academic Senate for a term of office of four years. The current members were elected on February 24, 2022.
The Academic Senate is an important self-governing body of the faculty, which participates in the management of its operation. It makes key decisions regarding teaching plans, strategic plans of the faculty, management of the faculty and aspects of changes to its internal legislation.
He is elected, elected by members of the academic community, which are employees of the Faculty of Medicine (academics) and students. This academic community elects 16 academics and 8 students to the senate every three years. The term of office of the current senate ends in 2025. The elections have separate academic and student parts.
Elected senators are ambassadors of all academics and students, there is mutual communication and, on the part of the senate, subsequent solutions and processing of problems, wishes and needs of the academic community. The Senate forms an open platform for discussion. It meets face-to-face at least five times during the academic year, however, there are issues that it resolves dynamically in an online environment.
International students are represented in the Academic Senate by Marios Kaloutsis. His role is to delegate academic matters between academic staff and students and to communicate any concerns, comments and important information. Through this representative, international students have voting rights at meetings on matters that concern them.
